About Torry

Torry Lewis is a provocative speaker, news analyst, and professor of Political Science.  Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, he has been involved with the political landscape of the metro area since 2006.  Soon after graduating from Savannah State

University, he felt that something had to change in his city of Norcross.  After noticing increasing crime, a lack of accountability, and complacency; at 22, Torry decided to run for the Georgia House of Representatives.  After gaining the endorsement o the Atlanta Journal-Constitution but failing to gain a majority of the vote, Torry decided to further his education.

In December 2007, Torry graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Master of Public Administration.  After another nail-biting campaign (both with margins under 120 votes), he decided to, once again, further his education.  Torry is currently in his last year in the Political Science Doctoral program at Clark Atlanta University.  His research includes:

  • Political Parties
  • Power
  • International Relations
  • Public Administration
  • Community Development
  • American Government
  • Political Psychology
  • Media and politics
  • Political History

With the Torry Lewis Initiative, Torry hopes to combine his love of current events, advocacy, analysis, and scholarship to provide a healthy and useful median for all people interested.

Torry currently lives in Atlanta and enjoys spending time with his Mother (Angela R. Lewis), Father (Wheeler Lewis, Jr.), Sister (Ashley N. Lewis), and all of his social friends.  Torry is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc through the Delta Eta Chapter at Savannah State University.  In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he is a die-hard fan of the Atlanta Falcons and gourmet cooking.
